Last week over 300 builders, engineers, realtors and inspectors attended the annual Green Building Summit. One of the best attended sessions was the one that had Jeff Seeliger with Dolese sharing what to do with your concrete when building to the new code required by IRC 2009. If you don't know by now, the new code requires a moisture/vapor barrier between the aggregate and the slab. One of the consequences is a little more cracking in the concrete when it sets up. This is NOT a structural issue but a cosmetic issue. Jeff challenged those present to take a little more time in working the concrete. If you want to know more, give Jeff a call. Better yet, make plans to attend our next concrete class, though we don't have another one scheduled yet!
