Here is the convention report from COHBA president Kurt Dinnes to his members.

The 2012 OSHBA State Convention was a record breaker. With attendance at 140

members it was one of the largest attended Convention's in the last 5-6 years.

The Professional Builder Certification classes were well structured filled with top rate information not only helpful to our builder membership but associate members as well. Again this year as a Professional Certified Builder you could obtain all required CEU's at the Convention all included in your Convention Registration Fees.

The most interesting speaker was the Friday lunch program featuring Col. Steve Russell on "The Capture of Saddam Hussein" followed by an hour and a half Leadership program also lead by Col. Steve Russell.

Vanessa Shadix, COHBA member was the chairman for the OSHBA Associates Council Convention Auction that brought in a record of over $6,000 to the Associate Council for their 2012 scholarship programs.

New Business included great news for all builder members of OSHBA regarding the New Home Sales Contracts which should be available for all builder members by January 1, 2013. This is one of those examples of how your membership provides $$$$ back to you. OSHBA provided the financial funds that were needed to put together a top notch New Homes Sales Contract. When complete it will allow each builder member to go into a program through the Oklahoma State Home Builders Association and customize this contract to fit your individual needs. Thanks to Mark Livingston, COHBA Committee Chair and his committee which consists of COHBA & Tulsa builder members.

OSHBA is currently putting in place a statewide Developers Council. A Council that will allow the State HBA to assist Developers across the state with a long range of issues.

Now the not so good news ... The Oklahoma State Home Builders Association's Board of Directors approved a $25 dues increase to go into effect on January 1, 2013. OSHBA has been budgeting in the red for the past two years and with their rainy day fund at new lows a dues increases was a necessary requirement. On this note we thought we would provide you information on how the State Association has saved you thousands of dollars in the past few years.

In closing here are upcoming important OSHBA dates to remember : Green Building Summit, September 27, Reed Convention Center; State Associates Council Golf Tournament, October 11, Fairfax Golf Club in Edmond Oklahoma; OSHBA PAC Sporting Clay Tournament on November 7th at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports and the OSHBA Installation of Officers installing our own Jeff Click as President on January 10, 2013.

In closing, I would personally like to thank each of you again for allowing me to serve you as President and represent the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association, Inc., at meetings like last weeks Oklahoma State Home Builders Association's State Convention.

Kurt Dinnes, President
