This month I want to share a couple of quick items we are working on at the State Association. I trust everyone is busy building homes and enjoying the warmer weather.

First, we have had several meetings regarding the 2014 OK Building Summit and it is shaping up as another event you won't want to miss. Please reserve September 11 in your calendar to join us. It will again be held at the Reed Center in Midwest City.

We will have Scott Sedam of True North delivering the opening remarks and keynote address discussing the LEAN process. And no, this has nothing to do with dieting. It has everything to do with efficiency in your building process. Whether you build 10 homes a year to 100, we can all learn to be efficient in our processes.

We will also have a session dealing with the high wind requirements enacted by the City of Moore. From tornados to earthquakes, the challenges builders face are big and we need to be educated on the latest building science.

Be sure to visit our Building Summit website and get registered. It is now open.

Second, the leadership at OSHBA is committed to helping each of you in your membership activities. You heard at the last Board of Directors meeting that we will be producing a video to help in the recruitment process. Immediate past president Jeff Click will be leading the production team.

However, to do it right, we hired a marketing consultant to conduct a focus group with non-member builders and non-participating builders to glean from them what it would take for them to either join or be involved. If you know of someone who fits that description, would you send that information to Mike right away? Thanks.

As usual, if there is anything you feel the State Association needs to focus on, you can let me know. It is privilege to represent you, the professional builder.
