There has been a change in leadership at the State Associates Council with Steve Taylor stepping up to take the position of Vice President/Secretary of the Council, replacing Carol Clark, who resigned to focus on new responsibilities at Oklahoma Natural Gas.

The change was approved at the March board meeting.

Steve TaylorSteve has been with Centerpoint Energy for 15 years and a Marketing Consultant for the past two years, working in business development and CNG Services for Centerpoint. Prior to that, Steve worked as a gas service technician for 13 years in the Ada area for Centerpoint Energy.

Steve also has served as a part-time minister in the United Methodist Church for six years. He has a bachelor's degree in business from East Central University in Ada, and lives in Marlow with his wife, Liz.

Many thanks to Steve for accepting the challenge of filling this role in mid-year.

Focus for 2014

OSHBA started work on creating a strategic plan in 2013 for 2013-2015. The Audacious Goal: OSHBA to be the premier and professional housing industry resource for: members, local HBA's, government entities, media and consumers. Initiatives for 2014 will be Education, Government Affairs, Membership and Governance and Operations. What to watch for to help OSHBA with these initiatives:

2014 OK Building Summit - September 11, 2014

Legislative Events for Lt. Gov. Todd Lamb - TBD

Participation in BuildPAC

Since plans are not to have a Summer Convention, the State Associates Council Officers will be working on ideas to still have our fundraiser events - Silent Auction, Table Top and Golf Tournament. If you have ideas or suggestions, please feel free to contact one of the Associate Officers.

In closing, as the most recent issue of the Oklahoma Builder magazine addresses the Certified Professional Builder program, I would like to remind Associates that as of the Fall of 2013, we too have a designated program - Certified Professional Associate. If you are interested in information on our requirements to become a Certified Professional Builder, please contact one of the above officers or Kathy Kastner, Executive Assistant, by email (Kathyk@oshba.org) or by phone (405) 843-5579 (toll free - 800-256-9980).
