Last week saw another week of committee action in the opposite house. In other words, various Senate committees were considering House bills and House committees were considering Senate bills. Most of our key bills made it out of committee, but two saw some opposition and will need constant monitoring.
HB 2836 - our "greenbelt" bill made it out of committee but still needs some tweaking. Our authors met with us and those opposing our bills to discuss the differences. While there is still some work to do, I was very encouraged that Rep. Scott Martin and Sen. Kim David have a grasp of our concern and are standing firm with us.
HB 2659 - our fire sprinkler bill saw some opposition from the fire fighting community. The title was struck which puts an additional hurdle in our way. Be sure to take a moment and talk to your local Senator about the need for this bill. There is no reason for cities to be able to mandate sprinklers.
The list here of all the bills we are tracking. As usual, give us a call if we can answer any questions.
