The Oklahoma State Home Builders Association and the Builders Association of South Central Oklahoma presented Moore Norman Technology Center with two scholarships last week, one at $1,600 and one at $500. The scholarships are to be used for students enrolled in a construction trades class atMNTC.

Dusty Johnston, president ofBASCOand DonnaCullinsofOSHBAwere on-site to present the donation toMNTC's Engineering and Technical Assistant Director Terry Williamson.

Scholarship recipients can be fromMNTCclasses such as: Computer Aided Drafting & Design, Electrical & Automated Industrial Systems, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, or Carpentry.

In the past, OSHBA and the Associates Council distributed $1,600 each to seven technology centers for a total of $11,200.This last year, they distributed $7,000 additionally -- $1,000 to seven additional technology centers for a total of $18,200 distributed.

Recipients are selected by a committee of construction-related trades instructors and the administrator of scholarships forMNTC. Those who earn the scholarships must be making satisfactory progress toward graduation and also need financial support to attain this goal. The funds are to help with tuition, books, or financial hardships in order to allow good-standing students to complete their classes and continue to move toward their education goals.
